"The Pledge of Allegiance" by Red Skelton

On one of my other sites I had posted a link to a site that recently a person commented on and it brought it back to my memory. The site I linked to is still up & I believe that as the 4th of July approaches and the current state of the world others still need to hear it.
Just found this site. The late Red Skelton talked on his TV show about the respect that he had for a teacher he had and how he taught them the Pledge of Allegiance. It is a beautiful word for word definition of the pledge and we should all hear it. You can go to this link by clicking here. You can read it and hear it on that site. Posted by Picasa

The Book of Matthew Chapter 1

1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Isa 7:14
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Jesus Loves Me

I got this in an e-mail and thought I would share it here.

I watched a Church in Atlanta honoring one of its senior
pastors who had been retired many years He was 92 at that
time and I wondered why the Church even bothered to ask the old
gentleman to preach at that age.
After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as
the applause quieted down he rose from his high back chair
and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gate to the
podium. Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands
on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he
began to speak....
"When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your
pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever
learned in my 50 odd years of preaching. I thought about it for a few
days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most
difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials. The one
thing that I could always rely on when tears and heartbreak and pain
and fear and sorrow paralyzed me... the only thing that would comfort
was this verse........
"Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong,
we are weak but He is strong.....
Yes, Jesus loves me...
The Bible tells me so."

When he finished, the church was quiet. You
actually could hear his foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair. I
don't believe I will ever forget it.

A pastor once stated, "I always noticed that it
was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for
the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the
adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the
best."

"Senior version of Jesus Loves Me"

Here is a new version just for us who have white
hair or no hair at all. For us over middle age (or even those almost
there) and all you others check out this newest version of Jesus Loves Me

JESUS LOVES ME

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me ! trust in Him.

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME..
YES, JESUS LOVES ME FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.

(CHORUS)

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."

(CHORUS)

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love

(CHORUS)

I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

(CHORUS)

If you think this is neat, please pass it on to
your friends.
If you do not pass it on , nothing bad will happen, but
you will have missed an opportunity to "Reach out and Touch" a friend or
a loved one.

God Bless Us All !!!

Plastic Who?

Knowing I am a big comic book fan fellow blogger Booksteve has recently sent me a link to a blog where a man said that he called into a talk show one day where the question was asked who was your favorite superhero when you were growing up? His answer was Plastic Man. To his surprise they had never heard of him. From what I read he would not have thought anything of it if they were younger then him but they were about his age. So why haven't they ever heard of him? He had a hit show on Saturday mornings. While he hasn't had a hit comic book in years he has had attempts and mini-series. He was recently even a member of the Justice League. He was a long overdue addition I might add. I always wondered why they went with Ralph Dibney and not Plastic Man. Back then Plas was better known then Ralph. Ralph's addition increased his popularity as Plastic Man sank into obscurity. With so much entertainment competing for our attention this trend may continue. Some people in their 20's don't know anything that happened before they were born. They may know the Monkees produced music but are surprised that they had a sit-com. They may think that Paul McCartney has always been a solo artist and are surprised to find he was the leader of Wings or a member of the Beatles. Lets hope that this doesn't spread to other areas like world history. As the old saying goes "Those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." Can you imagine what would happen if the world forgot about Hitler? We could have another one on our hands. Perhaps our increasing need for vast amounts of entertainment may be what brings about the rise of the Anti-Christ. I know I made a huge leap with this one but who knows it might be true.

Luke 9:37-50

37) On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. 38 And behold, a man from the crowd cried, "Teacher, I beg you to look upon my son, for he is my only child; 39) and behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him till he foams, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. 40) And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not." 41) Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here." 42) While he was coming, the demon tore him and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 43) And all were astonished at the majesty of God. But while they were all marveling at everything he did, he said to his disciples, 44) "Let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men." 45) But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying. 46) And an argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47) But when Jesus perceived the thought of their hearts, he took a child and put him by his side, 48) and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me; for he who is least among you all is the one who is great." 49) John answered, "Master, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us." 50) But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him; for he that is not against you is for you."
